A properly laid patio should always involve careful preparation of the ground area with hardcore stone 'crusher run', which is leveled and compacted using an industrial standard whacker (vibrating) plate (below).

You are then ready to apply your choice of finished patio slab. There are lots of choices on the market, from many patio slab manufacturers. We tend to recommend the cut sandstone variety, as there a plenty of subtle colour/shade variants, and it provides a quality natural stone finish.

Our work has incorporated curved patios, standard rectangular work, patio circles (these can add excellent little areas within the garden, which we often use in conjunction with a curved raised beds using dry stone walling, flowing around the curves) certain situations require an even more traditional finish, where we have used natural slabs of York stone, which provides a very natural and rustic aged appearance to the patio, and overall feel of the garden.

Bedded on mortar our patios are features, that are very long lasting, permanent features to watch your garden develop around.
